October 8, 2009...Scoring one goal only allows you to win if they have zero!!! We need to continue to improve. We still control our own fate.
September 22, 2009...This is a big week for us. The season will be half over after the next two games. We are still improving each game and each practice. Keep your heads up and keep working hard. I think we fixed some things, but someone has to step up and score some goals. Will it be you?
September 2, 2009...Another productive week. Keep doing the right things and good things will happen. I am proud of your hard work. Trust in your training, your knowledge, your coaches, and your abilities. I am excited for the start of the season on Saturday.
August 23, 2009...Great job this week. Things are starting to come together and you have shown Coach Phillips and I that you have a desire to be competitive. We have to continue to improve each day. This is the last week that we will be distraction free since school starts next week, so make the most of it. With our two scrimmages this week we will see where we stand.
August 11, 2009...What a productive off season! This is by far the hardest any team has worked since I have been at Dunmore. Great job, but none of it matters if we don't continue this into the season. Monday is the first official practice and here is the schedule I put together if you lose yours or did not get one. Remember you can not practice until I get a PIAA comprehensive physical form from you. Here is the link if you need one. See you Monday morning at 8 AM.
June 16, 2009...I think this week's session at Sherwood was much better. There were just too many people on the field last week. I am happy to see so many participants, keep it up. We have still yet to see a few faces from last year though, get on them...Next Monday starts our team workouts at the high school at 6 PM. Here is the schedule. I will not be there the first day due to my daughter's dance recital, but I passed the word on to Dan and Petey and they are going to handle it. I will be there on Wednesday anxious to get going. Spread the word and bring a friend, the more the merrier!
May 28, 2009...Thank you for your participation in the full field 11 v 11 league. We completed an 8 game season against some tough competition. I tried to give each person equal time on the field and everyone gained playing experience. This was the main reason for joining a league like this. Wins and losses only count during the season. If you have not checked the summer workout schedule, you should. Though wins and losses only count during the season, winning is earned in the off-season. I expect to see all of you and next year's new players for these training sessions.
March 10, 2009...Shawn Dente, Dan Pacifico, and Matt DeVivo have sign-up sheets for the Riverfront league that we discussed. I need the money and the permission slip by Wednesday, March 18. See them or see me. Here is the link to Riverfront's site.
February 7, 2009...I had a meeting this week on Thursday morning and I only saw returning players, no one new. You need to start branching out and asking your friends about playing this spring, summer, and then next season. We only had 4 freshman last year, so we need more participation. At the meeting I informed you about the full field 11 v 11 high school league at Riverfront. I would like to have at least 18 players join, 20 would be even better. I would like to invite 7th and 8th grade players to join us. The cost will be around $70 per player for the 8 game season, with games only on Sundays. Here is the link to Riverfront's site. The deadline to join is March 22.
February, 2009...As you can see I sort of lost track of keeping this updated. Once the soccer season hit full stride and school began, my focus was on those two things and not this. Here we are half way through winter. This is the time of the year when you can make the biggest strides toward becoming the soccer player you want to be. Our plans this winter include as much on the field time at Riverfront as we can get. I will be having a team meeting to discuss this shortly...stay tuned...
September 1...With our first game under our belt, we now know what we need to improve upon. Saturday is finished. Remember your commitment to the team and to improving. With school back in session you will be getting pulled in lots of directions. Don't lose focus. The season is going to go by in a flash. At the end you should be able to look back with no regrets.
August 16th...The first week of doubles is finished. We made some great progress and must continue to improve. I am very happy with everyone's effort and attitude. Remember what I told you- If you do the right thing, good things will happen. This is true in all aspects of your life. Here is a bio of the Russian wrestling champion I told you about on Friday, this was before he lost to Rulon Gardner, the unlikely American wrestler that beat him. Here is that story.
August 9th...The two weeks of conditioning went very quickly and smoothly. I hope those of you that did not attend did some conditioning of your own.
First day of double sessions is Monday, August 11th at 8 AM at the high school field. Make sure you have your physical paperwork taken care of before this day.
See the attachments under the practice link for a complete schedule.
